It’s January 2009, and it’s also 1968... a tale of two times that brings to mind A Tale of Two Cities. “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” This month we celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, remembering the mighty effort and courage of those who participated in the Civil Rights movement. It was a time that churned fears and prejudice to the surface, yet it brought out the best in ordinary people and our leaders. We will also see history made this month as the first person of African descent is sworn-in as President. Barack Obama takes office at what may not be our worst of times, but it is a time that demands our very best. I have chosen a few few songs that have been coming to mind in bits and pieces in the last few days. Please enjoy this music!
